 Migrations can be the best of times and the worst of times. But with the right strategy and planning it can be an exciting timeand experience for your end usersand your company. Your decision to make the change should come from both stakeholders/sponsors and end users. Stakeholders to support and fund and end users to feel a part of and engaged in thisprocess. Typically, with any major change the business should have a vision they want to achieve. Might be to be move towards a fully cloud environment or movetowards latest and greatest SharePoint has to offer.

 

Either way, make sure that vision is realized, andwithin the fabric of your project. And speaking of project you will need a talented team to facilitate your migration. The project team will need to report and be accountable to the stakeholders/sponsors. They will also need to work closely with business areas that depend on SharePoint. And lastly the project team will be implementing the actual migration and coordinating with business throughout the process.
